    Tantanoola

Beneath the rolling fields of South Australia lies a hidden wonder: the Tantanoola Caves. Carved from ancient limestone and adorned with delicate formations, these subterranean chambers reveal the patient artistry of water and time. Stalactites descend like frozen rain, stalagmites rise like stone pillars from the earth, and mineral patterns ripple across the walls in hues of ivory, amber, and silver-grey. Above ground, the landscape stretches wide and windswept, where salt-laden breezes carry the scent of the southern ocean.

This hand-knotted rug draws inspiration from that remarkable meeting of surface and subterranean worlds. Its design unfolds in organic patterns that echo mineral veins and crystalline formations, rippling across the surface like echoes of stone shaped by dripping water. Subtle gradations of cream, gold, and slate intermingle with darker accents, recalling the shifting interplay of light and shadow within a cave.

Woven from fine wool and silk, every knot is laid with the patience of geology itself—measured, deliberate, enduring. The fibres shimmer gently, as though lit by hidden pools reflecting the glow of lantern light.

To walk upon it is to step into the spirit of Tantanoola: the mystery of caverns formed over millennia, the resilience of limestone landscapes, and the quiet grandeur of places where the earth’s history is written in stone. More than a rug, “Tantanoola” is a celebration of depth and time—an ode to the hidden beauty that lies beneath the surface.
